A detailed pencil sketch of the Marine Corps' brand new CH-53K King Stallon going through its paces during testing, carrying a payload while simultaneously being refueled. The CH-53K will become the new workhorse for the US Marines.

The Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion (Sikorsky S-95) is a heavy-lift cargo helicopter designed and produced by Sikorsky Aircraft. The King Stallion is an evolution of the long running CH-53 series of helicopters which have been in continuous service since 1966 and features three uprated 7,500 shp (5,590 kW) engines and new composite rotor blades. It is the largest and heaviest helicopter in the U.S. military.

The CH-53K is all fly-by-wire.  According to Task & Purpose, “The CH-53K has three times the lift capability of its predecessor, the CH-53E,” reads a statement from the 2nd Marine Air Wing, the parent unit of HMH-461. “It has a wider cabin and is able to carry 27,000 pounds versus the CH-53E that can carry 9,628 pounds. Its engine produces 57% more horsepower with 63% fewer parts than the CH-53E.”

Workhorse is an UNDERSTATEMENT!
